I have one of these down my allotment and it has survived a lot of use in heavy clay soil so I bought one for use at home. It is well made and robust. Stainless blades win every time over carbon steel as they are easier to clean and there is less tendency for soil to stick to the blade. The new one has a lip at the top of the blade, which is useful if you have thin soled footwear. However, when digging holes for posts etc. then lip can get in the way.
Product is excellent: good value from this vendor, well balanced and a pleasure to use
