DeWalt DCM571 54v XR Cordless Brushless FLEXVOLT Brush Cutter and Grass Trimmer
Operating on powerful 54v Flexvolt batteries, the DCM571 is designed for fast and effective job completion, whether trimming grass or clearing overgrown areas. It includes a brush cutter blade and a line spool. A cutting swath of 38cm enables fast job completion in line trimmer mode; alternatively the machine can be fitted with the 255mm tri-arc brush cutter blade provided or one of the additional DeWalt blades available for the machine (available separately). As well as providing the necessary voltage for powerful machines like the DCM571, the unique advantage of Flexvolt batteries is that they are also backwards compatible with the standard Dewalt 18v XR range of cordless power tools. This means they can be used to power a huge variety of professional grade industrial power tools as well as all the garden machines in DeWalt's 18v and 54v landscaping ranges. Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
DeWalt Flexvolt
DeWalt 54v Flexvolt is the new DeWalt dual voltage system. A 54v Tool can only use 54v batteries, however your new DeWalt 54v Flexvolt battery is fully compatible with all DeWalt 18v Li-ion Power Tools as it is capable of stepping into 18v mode for this purpose.
So upgrading to 54v means you can still make use of your 18v power tool range. 54v batteries are currently available in:
6ah (18v mode) / 2ah (54v mode)
9ah (18v mode) / 3ah (54v mode)
12ah (18v mode) / 4ah (54v mode)
The DeWalt Flexvolt system opens the door to types of tool becoming available in cordless that would never have been considered before such as Table Saws.

I was looking for a combination of a standard grass trimmer and then the ability to switch to do brush cutting at the beginning of the year when things have got out of hand. I have struggled with grass trimmers before with poor cutting, hard to bump the line etc. This is a solid tool that does the job really well. Equally the brush cutter is a powerful tool that will get through thick brush and over grown areas. Good purchase
No more struggling with petrol, oil and pulling the starter cord in vain. Absolutely brilliant!
Easy to use, brush cutter very effective cutting brambles. Still to use as a stimmer. Battery life better than expected and fast recharge. Pleased had a solid shaft. Would have liked trigger a little more beefy otherwise 5 stars
Easy online system to order from Tooled Up and delivery was quick and in line with expectations. Product was easy to assemble and performance so far has been very good- so much easier on the ear than a petrol one. Haven’t used the blade yet but the strimmer works well and gets through heavy grass easily.

Cracking bit of kit. I have been using it pretty hard since taking it out of the box and it has performed well, the battery life is impressive considering the power it chucks out. Very happy with my purchase!
