Bosch AHS 50-20 LI P4A 18v Cordless Hedge Trimmer 500mm
A cordless 18v trimmer ideal for keeping unruly hedges in check, the AHS 50-20 LI is equipped with a number of Bosch design features, such as an intelligent Syneon energy regulation chip - that enhance its capabilities in garden maintenance tasks. Weighing in at 2.5kg, the AHS 50-20 LI has a balanced design for comfortable and controlled operation with minimum strain on the arms and shoulders. The AHS 50-20 LI's ergonomics are further enhanced by the softgrip rear handle and multi-position front handle. A see-through hand guard provides protection without hampering visibility of the work area, while a blade tip protector enables use along walls and paths without danger of damaging the blade. The front teeth are designed for sawing through branches up to 25mm in diameter, allowing the user to remove problem obstacles without having to resort to another tool. For quick and effective hedge cutting without jamming or stalling, the AHS 50-20 LI uses Quick-Cut technology and the Bosch patented Anti-Blocking system, ensuring that twigs and branches are cut first time round and that larger obstructions are severed instead of causing blockages. Monitoring and regulating the power output, a Bosch syneon chip ensures energy output matches the load requirements, preserving battery charge during light tasks and delivering optimum power for more demanding applications. As part of the PowerForAll range of Garden & DIY tools, the AHS 50-20 LI is compatible with lithium ion batteries from any other Bosch 18v PowerForAll tool. Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.
Bosch PowerForAll
The Bosch PowerForAll Tool range is a range of tools you can buy knowing that batteries are compatible with all tools in the range providing they are of the same voltage. eg 18v fits 18v, 12v (10.8v) fits 12v (10.8v) etc. Please also note that 10.8v is compatible with 12v & vice versa as it is just a name change. Indego Lawnmowers also use the PowerForAll 18v battery but require a cover plate to be removed if changing.
PowerForAll has many advantages not least the fact that once you have a tool with a few batteries then there is no need to buy the more expensive versions with battery & charger, you can just go ahead & buy the much cheaper no battery versions!
So remember PowerForAll signifies complete battery compatibility throughout the range. There is however, one caveat to this, some of the very first older chargers will not charge the very latest batteries & a battery charger upgrade will be required if you have a first generation charger. All batteries fit all tools however.
As of 2021 Bosch has licensed PowerForAll to other manufacturers whereby batteries between these manufacturers will be interchangeable.
Important
You cannot use Bosch Pro (Blue) batteries in either 12v or 18v DIY (Green) products.

I have had mine for 3 years and it is still going strong. I am a professional gardener and use it a couple if times a week. It is lightweight, robust, quick to charge, easy to maneuvere, great for smaller shrubs and precision work. I would definitely recommend and have just bought another one for a relative .
I really love my bosch cordless hedge trimmer. Its got a good battery life and does the job despite it being my first attempt at hedge trimming. Its easy to use and recharges quickky
Buying this new as a bare unit makes more sense than Buying new blades set. My previous Trimmer is identical and I am very pleased with it that’s why I’m buying another

This was a replacement purchase of the hedge cutter as my last one began to fail but the battery was still good. Works perfectly, just like the other. Service / shipping was spot on.
All good, very pleased with purchase. Had Bosch products in the past, always been good quality. The same with this purchase, cuts well, decent length blade, battery life very good. Dislikes, none so far. Overall a good buy.
